Official Press Release
Treasure Valley residents will soon have a new option for major elective surgeries—away from a typical hospital environment.
Construction is now underway for the Everest Surgical Institute—an independent Surgery Center for large-scale outpatient procedures, including orthopedic joint replacements, weight loss surgeries and spine & neurological procedures.
This 18,500 square foot, two-story building with three large operating rooms will only handle complex outpatient surgical cases—and will be exclusively owned by the surgeons & administrators performing the work.
Doctor-owned Ambulatory Surgical Centers—or ASCs—have become the wave of the future for outpatient surgeries because they operate at much lower costs than traditional hospitals. ASCs can often perform the exact same surgeries for as little as 1/3rd of the cost of larger hospitals. This saves third-party insurers—such as Medicaid/Medicare and Blue Cross of Idaho—millions of dollars every year.
In addition, because ASCs are not attached to a community hospital, surgery patients are isolated from those needing COVID-19 or infectious disease care and the operating room schedules are independent from the demands of trauma care cases.
The Everest Surgery Institute will be completed in Fall of 2021 and is located at 2960 E. St. Luke’s Street across Eagle Road from St. Luke’s Meridian.
It will be the first 100% doctor & admin-owned ASC to offer full joint replacement and bariatric weight loss surgery options in the Boise area.
Dr. David J. Brown, MD of the Idaho Bariatric and Metabolic Institute is the Founder of the Everest Surgical Institute and will serve as the Medical Director. The Perigee Group is the general contractor for the building, which was designed by Jerrod Wallgren of JGT Architecture.
The 1st floor will house the 3 Operating Room Surgery Center and the 2nd floor will consist of 3 Medical Office Suites.
